Ashley Schimmel Inducted Into Westminster College Chi Alpha Sigma

2015 Apr 10

The Westminster College athletic department inducted 13 new members into the Chi Alpha Sigma Missouri Alpha Chapter at Westminster College on Friday, April 10, 2015. Twenty-one Chi Alpha Sigma members were also recognized at the ceremony for their induction in 2014.

Ashley Schimmel, a junior member of the soccer team from Rogers, Arkansas, is one of the 13 inductees into the 2015 Chi Alpha Sigma group. Schimmel has been a part of the soccer team for three seasons.

Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, recognizes student-athletes that have outstanding scholarship, excellent character and citizenship, and have earned an athletic letter. The student-athletes inducted maintained a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior or senior years. They must be a part of a varsity team at Westminster for three years before being considered for the award, and transfers have to be in their second year of eligibility at Westminster.

Westminster joined the National College Athlete Honor Society in 2002. There are currently 213 members in the Missouri Alpha Chapter at Westminster College. The National College Athlete Honor Society was founded at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana on May 17, 1996, as a student-athlete honor society for the recognition of high academic achievers and sport letter winners at the collegiate level.
