2014 Apr 9

Ashley Schimmel, a Sophomore from Rogers, AR, has been selected as one of 21 new Student Ambassadors for Westminster College in Fulton, MO.

Westminster College Student Ambassadors are professional, outgoing and charismatic students who have unique opportunities for networking and leadership development as they ensure the establishment and maintenance of a strong relationship between the College and its constituents of alumni and friends.

They complete close to 400 hours of work by hosting, attending and supporting events such as Alumni Weekend, Board of Trustees Weekend, President’s Dinner, Westminster Symposium, Graduation, campus blood drives, TAG Day and Move In Weekend. They act as greeters at receptions and alumni events, give campus tours and participate as Road Crew members for the Blue Jay Road Trip.

Recruitment for new Student Ambassadors occurs at the beginning of the Spring Academic Semester. Students are selected through a 3-week process that includes a mixer, application packet and two rounds of interviews. Candidates are notified each week whether they will move on to the next round of the selection process. Interviews and selections are conducted by the Student Ambassador Recruitment Committee and Executive Board under the supervision of advisor Sharon Mather, Director of Alumni Engagement and Event Management.

Being concerned with the public relations and advocacy for Westminster College, Student Ambassadors adhere to the highest standards of student life and the values of the College.

“Because of their dedication to the mission of the College and their pursuit to live the College’s mission, Westminster College Student Ambassadors enhance the Westminster community on campus and throughout the world,” says Westminster President Dr. George B. Forsythe.
