Danielle Smulczenski Named To The 2014-15 Westminster Women's Basketball Team

Danielle Smulczenski from Springfield , Missouri has been named to the Westminster Blue Jays' basketball team in Fulton, Missouri. Smulczenski, a senior at Westminster, is going to be playing as a forward this year.

Prior to coming to Westminster, Smulczenski attended Kickapoo High School.

The Westminster Blue Jays are being led this season by Head Coach Tracey Braden and assisted by Clifton Cooper. Coach Braden is entering her eighth year with the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays finished last season with a 11-7 conference record and a fifth place finish. They went on to their sixth consecutive conference tournament appearance, but fell to Spalding in the first round of the tournament, ending their season with a 13-12 record.

The Westminster women's basketball team was named the number one team in the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the 2013-14 season based on their team GPA. The Blue Jays have previously placed fourth, 13th and 24th.

The Blue Jays begin the 2014-15 season on November 15 at the CCIW/SLIAC Challenge hosted by Elmhurst College. They will face Millikin University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15. Westminster's first conference opponent is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3 at home versus Webster University at 6:00 p.m.

The Blue Jays have 11 returning student-athletes.

Westminster College is a Division III program in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and the college's teams compete in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
