Donald Ortmann Named to the 2013 Westminster Blue Jays Baseball Team

2013 Feb 13

Donald Ortmann from House Springs, Missouri has been named to the 2013 Westminster Blue Jays baseball team in Fulton, Missouri.

Ortmann, a senior at Westminster, is going to be playing as a right handed pitcher this year.

Before coming to Westminster, Ortmann attended Northwest High School.

The Westminster Blue Jays are being led this season by head coach Dennis Hughes and assisted by Dane Hughes and Doug Otto. The Blue Jays finished fifth in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) and completed the season with a 15-23 record. The Blue Jays have 15 returning student-athletes.

The Blue Jays begin their season February 24, 2013, when they host Millikin University in their season opener.

Westminster College values the student-athlete experience and the life-long lessons they learn each day --- some learned inside the classroom, while other skills and lessons are learned on the courts where these student-athletes compete. As President Barney Forsythe says, "Leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, a commitment to excellence and a will to win, all lead to a life of success after graduation." Every day at Westminster is a day to appreciate, reward and recognize our student-athletes for excelling in the classroom, on the field and within their communities.
