John York From Westminster College Inducted Into International Education Honorary Society

John York from Lee's Summit, Missouri, has been inducted as a member of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), the international education honorary society, at a ceremony held this spring on the Westminster College campus.

York is a Senior, majoring in Secondary Education/History.

The NuRho Chapter in Fulton, MO is a joint chapter between Westminster College and William Woods University.

KDP was founded by Dr. William Bagley in 1911 at the University of Illinois to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching.

The name of the honorary society was chosen from the Greek words to represent knowledge, duty and power.

Known as a pioneer from its inception by including women as well as men, KDP has grown from a local chapter to an international organization of 600 chapters and more than 40,000 members. Though the majority of the members come from the United States, KDP is represented in countries across the globe including China, Japan and Canada. Membership is 90 percent women and 10 percent men.

KDP has a rich tradition of connecting top educators to worthy practices and ideals.
