Lauren Spohn Tapped for Order of Omega at Westminster College

2013 Mar 6

Lauren Spohn of Rochester, Minnesota, was tapped for Order of Omega Feb. 11 at Westminster College in Fulton, MO.

Spohn is a member of the Greek order of Kappa Alpha Theta and is a Junior at Westminster.

Qualifications for membership include character, scholarship, service and leadership. Exemplary character is the primary consideration.

Those interested in being considered for the Order of Omega submit an application and then are selected by a nominating committee of their peers.

"Order of Omega recognizes students who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-Greek activities to encourage them to continue along this line and inspire others to strive to reach this goal," says Jackie Weber, Asst. Dean of Student Life and Director of Residential & Greek Life. "The Order brings the most representative fraternity and sorority members together to help mold the sentiment at Westminster on questions of local and intercollegiate affairs."

In order to be selected for Order of Omega, a student must be a junior or senior who ranks above the all-Greek academic average and is in good standing with his or her fraternal organization. At least one-third of the initiates must be juniors.

Only the top three percent of Greek men and women on Westminster's campus are selected for Order of Omega.

"Order of Omega brings together faculty, alumni and student members of Westminster's fraternities and sororities on the basis of mutual interest, understanding and cooperation," says Weber.

Founded in 1851, Westminster College is one of the top liberal arts colleges in America, according to all major educational ranking firms including U.S.News & World Report, Forbes magazine, The Princeton Review and Washington Monthly.
