Lura Keogh Named to the 2013 Westminster Blue Jay Women’s Soccer Team

2013 Aug 28

Lura Keogh from Palmetto, Florida has been named to the Westminster Blue Jay soccer team in Fulton, Missouri.

Keogh, a freshman at Westminster, is going to be playing as a defender this year.

Before coming to Westminster, Keogh attended Palmetto High School.

The Westminster Blue Jays are being led this season by Head Coach Jen Dyson and assisted by Bill Killen. This is Coach Dyson’s 5th year coaching the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays ended the last season with a 4-12 overall record and a 3-5 record in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). The Blue Jays finished sixth in the SLIAC. The Blue Jays have 15 returning student-athletes.

The Blue Jays begin their season on August 31st as they play Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Nebraska. The home-opener will be September 7th as they host the University of the Ozarks at 2:00 p.m.

Westminster College values the student-athlete experience and the life-long lessons they learn each day --- some learned inside the classroom, while other skills and lessons are learned on the courts where these student-athletes compete. As President Barney Forsythe says, “Leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, a commitment to excellence and a will to win, all lead to a life of success after graduation.” Every day at Westminster is a day to appreciate, reward and recognize our student-athletes for excelling in the classroom, on the field and within their communities.
