Peter Gerber Named to the 2013 Westminster Blue Jay Men’s Soccer Team

2013 Aug 29

Peter Gerber from San Pedro Sula, Honduras has been named to the Westminster Blue Jays’ soccer team in Fulton, Missouri.

Gerber, a freshman at Westminster, is going to be playing as a forward this year.

Before coming to Westminster, Gerber attended Escuela Internacional Sampedrana.

The Westminster Blue Jays are being led this season by Head Coach Andrew Bordelon and assisted by Ryan Cravens. This is Coach Bordelon’s first year with the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays ended last season with a 10-7-2 overall record and a 6-2 record in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). The Blue Jays finished third in the SLIAC and took second place in the Conference Tournament, beating Greenville College in overtime then falling to Webster University.

The Blue Jays begin their season on August 30th against Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. The Blue Jays were selected to tie for third in the SLIAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll with Greenville College. The Blue Jays have 20 returning student-athletes, including three Second Team All-Conference selections.

Westminster College values the student-athlete experience and the life-long lessons they learn each day --- some learned inside the classroom, while other skills and lessons are learned on the courts where these student-athletes compete. As President Barney Forsythe says, “Leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, a commitment to excellence and a will to win, all lead to a life of success after graduation.” Every day at Westminster is a day to appreciate, reward and recognize our student-athletes for excelling in the classroom, on the field and within their communities.
