Yasna Rajkarnikar Inducted Into National Education Honorary Society

Yasna Rajkarnikar of Kathmandu, Nepal, was inducted into the national academic honorary society Alpha Chi in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury on the Westminster College campus in Fulton, MO.

Rajkarnikar is a senior at Westminster, majoring in Computer Science .

Founded in 1975, the Missouri Delta Chapter of Alpha Chi is the most prestigious national academic honorary society at Westminster College. Only the top 10 percent of the senior class and the top 5 percent of the junior class are eligible to be members.

Missouri Delta is a twelve-time winner of Alpha Chi's Star Chapter Award as one of the nation's most outstanding chapters.

Congratulatory remarks to the scholars were delivered by Westminster College President Dr. George B. Forsythe; Dr. Carolyn Perry, Dean of Faculty and Senior Vice President of the College; and Dr. David Jones, Associate Dean of Faculty and Alpha Chi faculty sponsor.

The invocation and benediction were given by Rev. Jamie Haskins, College Chaplain.

The new members were inducted by Alpha Chi President Jeannae Eckelkamp from Washington, MO, Vice-President Leigh Ann Lutz from California, MO, Secretary Ben Jones from Raymore, MO, and sponsor Dr. David Jones.

The objectives of this prestigious academic honorary society, which was nationally established in 1922, are the stimulation, development and recognition of scholarship and those elements of character that make scholarship effective. The name Alpha Chi is derived from the initial letters of the Greek words for truth and character.
